Safety Tip of the Week 

Road Rage

Road rage is never good. It is especially not good if you are on a motorcycle. But how do we deal with it when some moron almost takes us out? The following tip was shared to me at a Regional HOG Rally when HOG had Regional Rallies. No not the same thing we have now that have replaced and combined state rallies. It works.

When someone cuts you off or in any way almost runs you over, instead of having the enraged anger emotion that makes you want to follow them and do bodily harm, try saying  the following to yourself, "Ha, you didn’t get me this time!" Add expletives if it makes you feel better. Then just forget about it and go on about your fun filled motorcycle riding day. This especially works when you used one of your riding skills to avoid the crash. It’s time to be smug and pat yourself on the back. Good job

Monthly Meeting
Meeting for will be Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the VFW-6184 US 1 South, St. Augustine. Please join us for coffee at 9:00 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.  A short ride to St. Mary's Seafood at World Golf Village will follow.

Officers / Activities Meeting
June 2, 2019 we will be having our officers meeting followed by our semi- annual activities meeting. It will be held at the Caddy Shack at World Golf Village. The officers meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. followed immediately by the activities meeting. All officers are encouraged to attend the officers meeting and then around 5:30.p.m. all road captains are encouraged to attend the activities meeting. All members are invited to join the activities portion and share ideas of rides and destinations for the second half of the year. Participation is encouraged from all members. You do not have to be a road captain to make suggestions or even lead a ride. For those who have never attended one of these meetings, many start showing up around 5:00 and order food. Its pretty good.

Up and Coming 


Overnighter - June 1 & 2  Crystal River and Weeki Wachee
 
The information on our first over nighter is on the calendar. A ride to the gulf, meet and lunch with another HOG Chapter, visit a new dealership, dinner and socializing with friends, a mermaid show in a spring, what's there not to like?  
Meet at SR 207 and I-95 at 8;30 a.m. KSU at 9:00 a.m. Ride to Crystal River to meet and have lunch with Crystal River HOG. Ride to their new dealership and if time permits, visit Homosassa Springs. Then it's off to the hotel for happy hour and dinner. Sunday head for Weeki Wachee Springs around 8:00 a.m. for the mermaid show. Ralph will lead. Sweep TBA. Overnight accommodations are booked under Ancient City Harley Davidson at the Best Western Crystal River Resort. For those who went on the overnight a couple of years ago to Homosassa Springs this is the same hotel we stayed at, right on the river in Crystal River. Dinner will be at Cracker's Restaurant which is located next door to the hotel The restaurant and the hotel both have Tikki Bars for our convenience. Right now I have 15 rooms blocked at the hotel They have given us a rate of $109.00 as long as we rent at least 10 rooms. The block will stand until the end of April at that time the rooms will be released. Please call 352-795-3171 to book your room. Ask for the Ancient City Harley Davidson Block. If you are planning on going on the lunch ride please let Ralph know so he can let the other chapter know how many to expect at the restaurant.
