Immediate Attention Required
If you are one of
the few that have not sent in your Membership Enrollment Form
and Waiver, please do so. And Road Captains, lets not get lax
about checking at the rides. As I write this, there are still some
out there. I apologize again for the inconvenience but it is for
your own protection. Please work with us and lets get this behind
us. BTW if you see someone that is not compliant, just get them to
sign the form. Jere has graciously agreed to fill in the details.
I
am providing a hyperlink to download the Membership Enrollment Form and Waiver. If
this doesn’t work for you, you can also find it on our website http://www.ancientcityhog.com/ click Forms and
Documents.
Safety Tip of the Week
Instincts
Do
you think you have good instincts? Good for you. However, on
motorcycles instincts are often the opposite of proper technique.
Two examples are curves and dropping your bike.
I
won’t talk about curves today but if you are in the process of
dropping your bike, your instincts tell you to pull in the clutch,
roll off the throttle and grab the front brake. You grab the front
brake because your feet are not on the pegs where they should be so
you use the only brake available, the one that guarantees you are
about to drop your bike. Instincts told you to take your feet off
the pegs too, right?
Proper
technique in this case is, give it some gas, release the clutch and
the bike will stand itself back up. And by all means, don’t touch
that front brake!
BTW,
have I ever dropped my bike? You betcha, many times. I must have
good instincts.

LOH
Guys, if you are the
only one in your household that gets or reads this newsletter,
please share the LOH part with your wife or girl friend. Some of
the ladies are missing out on some fun activities because don't
know about them. You can also go to the LOH Facebook page for the
latest updates.
There is a LOH link on our website.
While at the officers
training session I have heard that some of the ladies that ride are
offended that we have LOH. They have complained that we even
have an LOH. They feel that they are not being treated
"the same" and wonder why we have this
"division". I, personally, do not feel this is a
"division". I think this part of the club brings us
all together. I LOVE LOH and believe it is necessary for the
unity of the club. I LOVE that we try to get together every
month. I LOVE my Ladies of Harley. I think all of you
are amazing and you make our club a better place to be. THANK
YOU for stepping up every month and planning something! THANK
YOU for stepping up and being part of the progressive dinner!
THANK YOU to all the ladies that ride their own bike and those of
us that ride with our husbands. THANK YOU ladies, for just
showing up. Debora
Monthly Meeting - VFW 6182 US 1
South, St. Augustine April 13, 2019
Join us for coffee at 9:00 and the
meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. A short ride to Martin's
Restaurant will follow. Merle will lead and Bob will sweep.
Thanks
Thank you Fred and Frank for your fine Road
Captain work to Captain Stan's Smokehouse.
I would like to take this time to tell everyone I will
no longer thank each Road Captain for each ride in every
newsletter. Bob is doing a wonderful job of that in his weekly ride
report, which is much appreciated. Thank you Bob.
I do want to thank every Road Captain for what they do
every week. In addition to just showing up and bearing the
responsibility, I think most people have no idea what is involved.
There are pre-rides, mapping programs, Dropbox, and even sharing
knowledge with other Road Captains involved in every ride. This is
also not to discount their vast knowledge of our part of the
country. Also many times the destinations are places that they have
personally found and are willing to share with our Chapter. So in
addition to thanking you myself, I encourage our riders to remember
to thank them after a ride. Speaking personally, it means a lot.
