Monthly Meeting
November 10,2018
I'd like to encourage everyone to
come to our November meeting as it is one of the most important of
the year. This month it is at our dealer Adamec Harley-Davidson Jacksonville, 8909 Baymeadows
Rd, Jacksonville, FL.
We will elect officers for the upcoming year and it is also a great
time to sign up for the Christmas Party and pay your yearly dues if
you haven't done so. Don't forget on this meeting day, all Ancient
City Members receive 10% discount from our dealer.

Tee Shirt Thoughts
I'm old school when it comes to buying tees. I've
been fortunate enough to travel over a large part of the United
States and Canada. Most of the crowd I've run with bought tee
shirts from places they rode, not from where they lived. I guess it
kind of gives you bragging rights to show where you've ridden. I
never gave it much thought, it was just the way it was done.
Then another train of thought was brought to my attention. Buying
and wearing shirts from your supporting dealer shows your
appreciation for what they do for your chapter. We are proud of our
chapter and our dealer is part of our chapter. Heck we wouldn't
even have a chapter if it wasn't for our dealer.
I'm not suggesting breaking a long lived biker tradition but
simply suggesting that at meetings and local functions it would
show our dealer a little appreciation by wearing one of their
shirts. Sometimes it's the little things..
Membership Dues and
Sale
Dues for year-$20
It's not too early to start paying our
dues. They are $20 and this is probably the best bargain I get all
year.
Rumor
There is a possibility of a dues increase. If it comes about fear
not. If you pay your dues before December 31 of this year, your
dues for 2019 will remain at $20. You will not realize an increase
until 2020. New members or current members paying after December 31
will pay $25. Even new members paying before December 31 will be
covered for the rest of 2018 and 2019 for $20. Again if it happens.

After the meeting Charles will
take us on a lunch ride to Wicked Barley Brewing Co. which is located 4100 Baymeadows Rd. on
Goodby's Creek... 904-379-7077, Charles will lead and Merle
will sweep.

11/11/2018
On the
Sunday after our monthly meetings, we have an additional ride to
make up for the short meeting day ride. This Sunday we Frank will
take us to Castaways, 23525 FL-40,
Astor, FL Steve will sweep. We will meet at the Race Trac on SR207 at
I95 at 9am...KSU 9:30am.

Near Future
Activities Meeting 12/02/18
Our activities meeting is scheduled
at Caddy Shack in World Golf Village at 5:00pm on Sunday December
2. Its the time we get together and plan the first half of the
year. Everyone is invited and is encouraged participate. Road
captains are encouraged to make this meeting and present rides and
events they would like to lead and sweep. However remember you
don't have to be a Road Captain to lead a ride. If you have
someplace you would like to take the chapter this is the time to do
it. There is also an Officer's Meeting before the Activities
Meeting. It all starts at 5:00 but feel free to show up early and
eat.
Christmas Party
Ameci's Restaurant 12/08/18
This event is on
Saturday December 8, 2018 at 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm (Cocktails
6-7, Dinner @ 7) at Amici Italian Restaurant, 1915 A1A South, St
Augustine (Rt 312 and A1A) For you early birds, Ameci has a happy
hour in the bar from 4:00pm - 6:00pm but please be courteous and
remember we are not allowed in the banquet area until 6:00 unless
you are part of the set up.
The deadline to sign up and
remit payment is Saturday, 12/01/18 Please sign up on link at the
top of the newsletter or our web page.
A complete
party for only $25.00 per person! BTW this is a members only price
but feel free to bring a guest for $45. It would be great to get
that non-member to join so they can be a part of all our activities
and savings for the future.
(The actual cost of this event is considerably higher, so again
your club is subsidizing a great party!)
Our old friend Doc is DJing again this year so you know the music
will be outstanding. We will be doing a Secret Santa gift
exchange again this year. (Gift value should = $15)
Participation is optional.
Please wrap all gifts. Note: the party will also serve
as our December Chapter Meeting, so Terry may address any
outstanding business issues.
Appetizers, Salad, Dinner (choice of 3 main courses) and
Dessert! What more could you ask for at a great party!!!
Dinner choices are the same as last year:
- Herb crusted salmon
with roasted potatoes and vegetables
- Chicken Francese
with angel hair pasta
- Steak tips with
potatoes and vegetables

remit by 12/01/18 or at the November meeting or any sponsored club
ride. Give it to an officer or the ride leader.

Thanks
A
huge thanks to Cliff for the great ride to Sister's café. After
taking us 111 miles down rabbit trails our chapter is noted for, we
arrived at a delightful little restaurant with a down home country
cooking buffet. The ride was excellent, I know I went down roads
I've never been on and the food was over the top. Some said if
there was a contest, this would get their vote for the best ride of
the year. Thank goodness for Dropbox because someone will have to
take us there again if Cliff doesn't. Hint, hint Road
Captains. We have an activities meeting coming up. Thanks also to
Charles for sweeping and to the riders who showed up. We had 23
riders show up for this one.
