Our
meeting last Saturday was sparsely
attended and I attributed that to both Bike Week
and to the current state of affairs regarding the Corona Virus and
"Social Distancing" Without a doubt I understand both reasons
not to have been there!
We, as a Chapter, have a duty and responsibility to do our part to
"minimize the curve" of the spread of COVID-19 and thus
we join the ever growing groups of folks that have to decide what
activities to cancel, delay or postpone as well as deciding which
ones to continue with!
At this time we are NOT
cancelling any rides!! We may have to change
destinations or times but we
really want to keep active riding in our future simply because
that's what we do!!!
Therefore, the
decision to RIDE with your Chapter falls squarely on you!
No judgement, no criticism, no ill effects as we are all
(supposedly) grown adults capable of making our own decisions!
Be aware, be conscientious, be frugal with the toilet paper but
don't be scared to venture out with folks that are trustworthy
enough not to put your health in jeopardy!
(And, yes, we will practice "Social Distancing")
At this point in time, Adamec
has cancelled almost everything on their calendar for the
foreseeable future. This includes our After
Meeting Cookouts and our April Meeting at the minimum! Our calendar has been
updated to show the April Meeting as CANCELLED!
Also cancelled are HOG Officers Training activities and the SMART
Riders course in Gainesville. On the table for consideration
is our upcoming picnic on Saturday April 18, 2020. Realizing
that almost all restaurants and public areas are being restricted
to 1/2 capacity or no more than 50 people and in some cases
less! it
is more than likely our Picnic will, sadly, have to be postponed
also.
As we receive notifications of other cancellations this too will be
reflected on our Chapter Calendar so keep checking, keep watching
but one thing we do is RIDE!!
As as past "local business owner" I can tell you that
local support is paramount in times like this! Tip a bit more
when you can, save gift cards for future use and/or buy
gift cards now to maximize cash input to our local
businesses! Our
small local businesses now need serious help with cash flow
so if you got some to spare Karma will reward you!!
Lastly, if you spot something on the Calendar that you know has
been cancelled please email me
immediately!!
