Hi Terry,

I am pretty sure mine

Mike O’handley and Karen Trucchi were sent in December. Not sure if you can check, or we can just fill it out and sign again?

Thanks

Mike

Immediate Attention Required

One of the advantages of HOG is the liability protection of our chapter and members. To have this benefit, which by the way is an absolute requirement by Harley, everyone must sign a waiver. Members sign this waiver as part of their application. We just learned at the Officers Training that all waivers dated before December 1 are not acceptable. Therefore, by no fault of their own, we have 87 members who are not in compliance.

I ask that those of you who paid and signed your waivers before December to please fill out another form as soon as possible and bring it to the next ride or meeting. If you like you can mail it in but do not use the P.O. Box address as we are no longer using that as of March 1. We will be taking that address off the website soon and a new address will be provided. You can send it to Ancient City HOG in care of Adamec Harley Davidson, 8909 Baymeadows  Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256. To clear up any confusion, when you date your enrollment and waiver, today's date whatever that is, is acceptable as long as it is 2019. If you are one of the 10 who paid any time in December, nothing is required.

I am providing a hyperlink to download the Membership Enrollment Form and Waiver.  If this doesn’t work for you, you can also find it on our website http://www.ancientcityhog.com/ click Forms and Documents.

Remember you must have a waiver signed before you can go on your next ride. Our Road Captains and Officers will have a list of those not in compliance and some forms with them. It would be an incredible time saver though if each would download their  own form and have it already filled out before the next ride or meeting.

I apologize for this inconvenience but appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us get this done as soon as possible.

Safety Tip of the Week

Ridiculous Quotes

I’m sure you’ve all heard this one, “There are two kinds of bikers, those who have crashed and those who are going to.” It usually comes from someone who has crashed, shocker. They smugly want you to feel that they have had theirs and now it’s your turn. They act as if there are biker gnomes flying around keeping score of who has had a crash and who hasn’t.

The truth is, whether you have had a crash or not has nothing to do with the odds of having another crash. Science and math do not work that way. Actually, if you have had a crash, the cause of the crash has more to do with your odds of having another crash than the other person’s crash record. This is especially true if it was you didn’t learn from the experience.

I can’t guarantee you will never crash. I wish I could. I can guarantee that you can manage the risk. Don’t buy into the insanity that because you ride a motorcycle that you deserve a crash. Get some training, practice your skills and don’t forget your safety gear.

Road Captains

New Sheriff in town
Bob Bloom is our new Head Road Captain, and doing a fine job I might add.  Please make sure he gets all the sign in sheets and contact him to make any changes in rides such as leads, sweeps, times and locations. You may contact him at headroadcaptain@ancientcityhog.com.

I want to remind our road captains that we have a welcome guest letter on Goggle Docs. Please print off a couple to give to new guests who show up for rides.

HOG Stuff
Ride 365
2018 is over. Its time to get that mileage documented for next years contest. Lets show the other chapters in Florida who rides! By the way, you can go to any dealer to get your mileage documented. Note: registering for Ride 365 does three
things.
1. It adds to your lifetime HOG accumulation miles. For this, it doesn't matter when or how many times you register. Your lifetime miles will always be added. 2. It signs you up for the years Ride 365 mileage. For this you must registered twice in one year; once as early as possible in the year and once as late in the year as possible. Even if you registered late in December and rode tens of thousands of miles, if you only register once in the calendar year, you will get 0 miles. 3. It signs you up for the chapter challenge where we compete with other chapters across the country. If you are a member of two or more chapters you must go to the HOG members website and choose which chapter you want your miles to go to. The dealer can't do this for you.

SMART - Smart Motorcycle And Riding Technique
This is the FDOT funded class taught by police and sheriff motor officers. It is a similar format to some of the commercially taught classes that begin with Ride Like A …   I think this is actually better and it is free, well paid for by tax dollars. Nothing is free. More instructors, more room, more cones, more personal hands on instructions. Gainesville Police got their funding again and will begin classes again in January.   Watch the calendar and future newsletters for details.

Tidbits

Thanks
Thanks Fred for the following synapsis of the ride on Saturday February 23.

On 2/23/19, although we had no idea what we were in for, 40 adventurous
riders showed up at 9:30 am for Bear's Mystery Ride.
All we were told was that it'll be long, fast and fun and to eat
breakfast before KSU @ 10:30 am.

After the Blessing of the Bikes, the mystery was revealed and we took
off on a great 152 mile ride, certainly not the direct route, to OB's in
DeLand.
A few of the "not so tough" riders bailed after the break at the
Cheyenne in South Palatka and headed off to lunch.
The rest of us real riders took on the 2nd half of the ride and enjoyed
a great lunch at OB's and made new friends to boot.

Hopefully Bear will tackle this again but is sure was impressive looking
at 40 bikes tearing through the back roads on Saturday.
Thank you Michael "Bear" Cooper for a great day!!
See ya'all on the next Mystery Ride!
